Important COVID-19 Travel Update: Papua New Guinea has recently relaxed its restrictions, eliminating the requirement for passengers entering the country to submit a COVID supplementary health form or provide proof of vaccination.

We recommend applying for the 30 or 60 day “Easy visitor visa”. Although VISAs are sometimes granted instantly, apply here at least 3-4 weeks in advance.

Jacksons International Airport in Port Moresby welcomes direct flights from Singapore, Australia (an 70-minute flight from Cairns), Hong Kong, Palau and Phillipines.

If travelling from Australia, there is a few hours layover (location dependent) in Port Moresby and Melanesian Tourist Services can co-ordinate a day trip of Port Moresby for travellers wishing to discover the capital firsthand.

Air Niugini offers a frequent connecting flight from Port Moresby’s domestic terminal to Madang – with a flight time of approximately one hour.

Whilst tourism is slowly resuming following COVID-19, Papua New Guinea’s airline - Air Niugini – continues to experience operational challenges and their reliability has been impacted. There is a possibility that flights between Port Moresby and Madang may not operate as scheduled. Visitors may be required to overnight in Port Moresby and rebooked on the next day’s flight. Our ground services team will provide full assistance in the event that this occurs.

With limited land transport infrastructure available, if you are planning to arrive in Madang from other areas of Papua New Guinea, we recommend you speak with your travel agent prior to departing for Papua New Guinea to check what flight services are available.

On your arrival in Madang, you will be met by the resort’s shuttle bus driver before being transferred to Madang Resort – a drive of approximately 15 -minutes.
