‘Australian by birth, a true Papua New Guinean at heart.’

Sir Peter first discovered his great love for Papua New Guinea from the air. Learning to fly, and needing to build up his flight hours, he was offered a job as a volunteer pilot with the Franciscan Catholic Mission in Aitape, Sandaun Province. From there, he joined TALAIR as a pilot, whilst also establishing their tourism division – Talco. Through his entrepreneurial spirit, and commitment to showcase Papua New Guinea to the world, he quickly became known as the pioneer of Papua New Guinea’s tourism industry.

In a remarkable entrepreneurial journey, Sir Peter took the reins of TALCO and transformed it into Melanesian Tourist Services Ltd. (MTS). This pivotal move not only involved a change in name but also marked the beginning of a promising chapter for Sir Peter and his family. From the cozy confines of his house in Madang, Sir Peter embarked on a mission to expand MTS. His unwavering vision led him to seize the opportunity of acquiring Hotel Madang, a then 45-room establishment perfectly suited to accommodate the influx of tourists that TALCO had attracted. With this strategic acquisition, Sir Peter set in motion a path of growth and advancement that would propel MTS to new heights.

With over 200 rooms, cottages, and villas, it provides a diverse range of options for discerning guests. Notably, Niugini Dive Adventures, renowned as one of the country's most experienced dive operators, which is temporarily closed until further notice. The Madang Resort and Kalibobo Village stand as a testament to the dedication and vision that have shaped it into a distinguished destination of choice for travellers seeking luxury, comfort, and a truly memorable experience.

In addition to his remarkable entrepreneurial journey, Sir Peter's accomplishments extended beyond business and into the realm of politics. Following his election as the regional member for Madang Province in 1992, he embarked on a distinguished career in public service. Throughout his tenure, Sir Peter assumed various significant ministerial roles, including Minister for Health, Provincial Affairs & Local Level Ministry. In 2002, he was entrusted with the responsibility of serving as the Minister for Health and Bougainville, further demonstrating his commitment to the welfare of the nation.
